Malcolm Hiles

Malcolm has devoted all his professional working life, some 35 years, to W Hiles Partnership, gaining considerable and varied experience in all building types and an extensive range of projects. He attained Partner level in 1987 and became Managing Director in May 1997.

He has a proactive, hands-on approach to delivering varied projects in many sectors of industry including over 60 units for Wagamama and over 30 new build / fit-out bowling centres and phased refurbishment of 30 bowling centres.

Formerly a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Quantity Surveying Division), Malcolm is qualified in all disciplines and aspects of project management, cost control and quantity surveying.

He has had extensive hands-on project management roles in schemes up to £15M and is experienced in contract procurement and acting as Employers Agent.

His specialisms include handling difficult projects, undertaking post project audits, negotiating landlord and tenant responsibilities (shell matters), and rolling out intensive and challenging development programmes.

W Hiles Partnership was founded by Wilfrid Hiles in 1937

The original office was on Corporation Street in central Birmingham

Gerald Hiles, Wilfrid’s son, became Partner

1962

The firm moved to a new office suite in the newly built Rotunda being only the third tenant to move in.

1985

Malcolm’s brother Mark Hiles joins the Practice.

After a few years away from the business he now acts as a Senior External Consultant to the business working for both WHP and his other Clients. Thus Mark follows in the family tradition of his grandfather, father and elder brother in providing both building cost and project management advice.

Mark’s role strengthens the experience the Company offers to all their Clients

In 1987 Malcolm Hiles became the third generation of the family to become partner following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps

2004

On the move: the Rotunda was being redeveloped into apartments in the Bullring development project, and the office was initially relocated to Great Charles Street and then in 2010 the firm left the city and moved to Royal Leamington Spa in Warwickshire
